Pebble Skull

26/6/12 – Skull made from Pebbles, photograph by Charlotte Pridding

I decided to use the pebbles in the garden in order to create the shape of the skull. It was quite difficult to create the shape and the teeth were extremely challenging.  I did use a drawing of a skull as a reference in order to create the outline, although the shape didn’t work that well. The purpose behind this particular experiment was to practise with everyday materials or objects.

The objective is to continue experimenting with other materials in order to create different representations of the skull. I also practised using different camera angles in order to create interesting compositions or styles. The photos were taken in the the middle of the day and the light provided the image with clarity. If I was to redo this particular experiment, I would definitely need to work on the shape and the size of the skull.
