Chewing Gum Skull

14/5 – Work in Progress

I bought a packet of chewing gum and I wondered whether I could actually create a skull from the wrappers. A high camera angle captured the entire image, which was positioned against a black backdrop. I also used a 35 mm lens instead of a 60 mm, which minimised blurriness within the images.

The aim is to experiment with different shapes, forms and compositions in order to develop other ideas or concepts for the project. Different settings, techniques and mediums are use in order to create different styles.

It’s interesting to see how the light responds to different objects and the objective is to experiment with other manufactured or everyday objects in order to create different styles or representations. Although this particular image features a very basic outline of a skull, experimenting with the materials has been extremely useful and beneficial.
