26/4/12 – The Black Parade
While cleaning my bedroom, I found an album from My Chemical Romance, The Black Parade. The cover features a skeletal figure and the style of clothing may suggest that the corpse belongs to the marching band. The skeletal figure may feature similarities to Posada’s work who also displays skeletons partaking in everyday activities in a range of different clothes or outfits.
The back of the album cover also features a large skeleton who leads the parade. The distorted figures may suggest that they have departed from the living in order to join the ‘black parade’. The album may also feature similarities to the Day of the Dead Festival and perhaps the ‘black parade’ connects the living with the deceased. The skeleton’s jacket also appears similar to a ribcage and the figure’s narrow structure may also feature similarities with Tim Burton’s Jack Skellington from the Nightmare before Christmas.
